The 20 million euro aid program for the German dance scene is coordinated with ongoing and new federal and state funding initiatives in such a way that the programs complement each other but avoid overcompensation.
The concept provides for the implementation of three pillars: TANZPAKT RECONNECT to strengthen and secure the future of dance structures. DIS-TANZEN as a support program for solo dance professionals and as an impulse support for dance schools and dance pedagogy in cultural institutions. STEPPING OUT to promote the development, production and distribution of dance in new spaces. Applicants cannot apply for funding for an identical project in more than one of the programs.
With the support program DIS-TANZEN, the Dachverband Tanz Deutschland e.V. supports the restart of artistic and dance educational activities in the Corona crisis. A special focus is placed on the development and testing of new forms of artistic and dance-pedagogical or dance-mediating work. The aim of DIS-TANZEN is to strengthen the individual actors of dance in the future and to create innovative examples as well as models for the entire dance scene.
DIS-TANZEN has a total funding volume of 10 million euros.
DIS-TANZ-SOLO is aimed at solo dance professionals: Choreographers, dancers, dramaturges, producers, curators, technicians, dance mediators, dance teachers and other solo self-employed people who are professionally involved in artistic and mediating processes.
DIS-TANZ-IMPULS is a support program for dance schools and cultural institutions offering dance education. Natural and legal persons are eligible to apply.
*The applicant must be a resident of Germany.
The examination of the applications takes place in the office of the Dachverband Tanz Deutschland.
The application deadline for TANZPAKT RECONNECT has already passed.
Yes, it is possible to apply for DIS-TANZEN if you have already taken advantage of instant support (Soforthilfe), or other funding programs. However, the same costs may not be accounted for multiple times in different grants. This must be observed.
In principle, it is possible to apply to several programs of the Dance Assistance Program. However, one and the same project (project or measure) cannot be funded by different funding programs. I.e. an application for a separate project must be submitted in each funding program.
A funded project may only be started after the grant agreement has been received, i.e. the grant money may only be used afterwards. If there are special and important reasons why part of the grant money should be used beforehand, e.g. because the rent for dance school rooms is due beforehand, an early start of the measure can be applied for.
An early start of the measure can be applied for: For DIS-TANZ-SOLO at the earliest from the notification of a positive jury decision and for DIS-TANZ-IMPULS with the date of the application. For this you have to answer the selection of the early start of the measure (under the menu item Declarations) with Yes in the application form. We expressly point out that this is not the promise of funding. There is no entitlement to funding. The start of the project as well as all obligations and expenses incurred are therefore at your own risk.
For DIS-TANZ-SOLO an application form is available in German as well as in English.
In principle, rejected applications from the first funding round can be resubmitted.
There is no legal entitlement to funding from Dachverband Tanz Deutschland.
The application deadline for the third apllication round for DIS-TANZ-SOLO is March 22, 2021.
Two application rounds have already been completed. The third application round is provisionally the last.
Yes, the total funding volume is distributed in approximately equal amounts among the three application rounds.
Funding is excluded if the project has already started before the jury meeting or if expenditures have been made or contracts concluded for it beforehand. The earliest possible start date for projects in the third funding round is the date of information about a positive decision by the jury. (Expected 01.05.2021) An early start is possible, see the question on early start under the general questions.
The funding period for the first application round ends on Aug. 31, 2021.
The funding period for the second application round ends on 15.10.2021.
The funding period for the third application round ends on 31.12.2021.
As a rule, the duration of the requested project should be at least three months.
The duration of the requested project must not exceed eight months.
The funding amounts are paid out in such a way that after the start of the project, the planned funding is always transferred on a pro rata basis for the past four weeks. The recipients call up their funds for this purpose.
The proofs and documents which must be submitted for the application can be found under Preparation and named in the application form.
No, for the DIS-TANZ-SOLO program the information (duration and monthly amount) in the application form is sufficient.
The goal of DIS-TANZEN is the restart of artistic activity in the professional field. Significant participation means here the involvement in dance projects, dance productions or dance educational projects in the professional field, i.e. the exercise of an activity relevant to the realization of the project. This can be artistic as well as mediating, organizational and technical activities. The nature of the involvement must be evident from the evidence submitted in the application.
In principle, self-employment of at least two years is required for DIS-TANZ-SOLO funding. However, persons with hybrid employment can also apply. Currently and in the funding period, the recipients may not receive more than 50% of their income from an employment relationship. The jury is responsible for reviewing and deciding on funding.
Yes, this is possible if you can also demonstrate your involvement in artistic dance projects. However, if you would like to apply as a representative of a dance school, please apply to DIS-TANZ-IMPULS. Likewise, at DIS-TANZ-IMPULS you can work together with a dance school where you teach on the application and calculate your fee in the expenses of the measure.
Funding can be based on 500€, 1,000€ or 1,500€ per month. The project duration, the number of months, can be freely chosen between three and eight months. However, the total amount may not be less than 4,000€ and not more than 12,000€.
Yes, funding can also be used for research for a project/production.
No, the grant is for your own work on your project.
The grant is to be used as income for your work on the project. If you involve other people, you can only honor them from your own funds.
Please estimate independently how much time you would like to spend working on your project each month. The basis for this is the lower fee limit of 2,490€ per month recommended by the Bundesverband für darstellende Künste.
Would you like to work on the project for a clearly limited period of time (approx. one day per week, 500€), partially (approx. 2 days per week, 1,000€) or more than half of your working time (approx. 3 days per week, 1,500€) during the funding period?
If a monthly grant of 500€ is requested, the funding period must be eight months, as the minimum funding amount is 4,000€ (500€ monthly grant x 8 months = 4,000€).
If a monthly funding of 1.000€ is requested, the funding period can vary between five and eight months. (1,000€ monthly grant x 5 months = 5,000€ or 1000€ monthly grant x 8 months = 8,000€).
If a monthly grant of 1,500€ is requested, the funding period can vary between three and eight months (1,500€ monthly grant x 3 months = 4,500€ (minimum funding amount) or 1,500€ monthly grant x 8 months = 12,000€ (maximum funding amount)).
You submit a report in which you describe the progress and success of your project (approx. 1-2 pages).
In addition, a numerical proof of the funding amounts is required.
We would like to see documentation of the project that is appropriate to the art form. We want to use the many projects as an opportunity for good approaches to be shared, exciting projects to inspire others, and results to become the starting point for new ideas. To this end, the Dachverband Tanz will set up an exchange platform and invite both the grantees and other dance practitioners to share their work processes and results.
Process descriptions can already be submitted during the project in the sense of a project diary. The factual report must be submitted no later than one month after completion of the project.
The grant is intended as full funding for your specific project, therefore it cannot be combined with other grant programs.
Criteria are the previous course of professional work and the description of the content of your project.
In addition, the applications are checked for their feasibility in terms of time and scope.
It is expected that the results for the third round of applications will be announced in early May 2021.
Yes, also applicants who do not receive funding will be informed of this.
